The Washington Wrestling Club is a USA Wrestling and AAU chartered club dedicated to promoting opportunities for wrestlers from the high school level and beyond.  Members are novice to experienced wrestlers and use the club for everything from working out to preparing for competitive events. History The club was founded in 1967 by .  He is a graduate of the US Naval Academy and won the bronze medal in freestyle wrestling at the 1952 Olympic Games.  For several years he was on the wrestling committee of the U.S. Olympic Committee, chairing the committee in 1964-68.  He later served as President of the AAU. Joe was elected as a distinguished member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. In 2004 he retired and moved to his hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He in 2012 shortly after attending the NCAA championships he suffering a stroke and never recovered. He died in his sleep on 4 April 2012. Washington Wrestling Club Officers The WWC officers are elected by the membership and represent over100 years combined experience in the sport. They have been varsity wrestlers and coaches at NCAA division 1 and 3 wrestling programs. They all are member coaches of USAW have passed the associated background check and received concussion safety training.
