The Air Division of the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality has a licensing program which covers six asbestos certifications plus three license types (contractor, consultant, and trainer).
In all, trainers teach the six certifications plus a Two-Hour Awareness course. They include classes for contractor supervisors, inspectors, management planners, asbestos workers, project designers, and air monitors. And within these categories, there are initial and refresher courses. And the Department also licenses for Spanish classes. A trainer need not be licensed for all these categories.
There is a $375 fee, and that is a yearly fee, not just one time.
You will need to submit various different educational documents pertaining to the courses that you are going to teach. These include sample course agendas and a curriculum statement, along with instructor resumes. According to the Department of Workforce Services, the training must be consistent with Title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 763, Appendix C to Subpart E Model Accreditation Plan (MAP), along with any revisions to that rule.
Note: If possible, it is best to get course approval from the EPA. The application form asks about this, but it doesn’t state that it is a requirement.
