Colorado Avalanche G Calvin Pickard is starting against the San Jose Sharks Wednesday, Feb. 24, because G Semyon Varlamov (illness) has the flu, according to head coach Patrick Roy. Tip: Colorado has allowed 3.0 goals per game through its past five outings and 2.93 goals per home game for the season, whereas San Jose enters with an active 14-3-3 run. Pickard has been nothing better than mediocre this season with a 3-4-1 record, a .918 save percentage and a 2.67 goals-against average.
