Mixed martial arts star Gina Carano is set to make her feature film debut, and she’s punching directly into the limelight.

Carano will star in ‘s spy flick “Knockout,” according to Variety. The story will follow a blue-collar fighter recruited to work as a spy. What, they couldn’t wedge her into the “xXx” franchise somehow?

Carano is known for her fighting style combining boxing and Muay Thai. In the ring, she has a 7-1 record.

The fighter has some previous acting experience: She was Crush on the recent reboot of “American Gladiators” and co-starred in the 2005 straight-to-video flick “Ring Girls.”

Filming on “Knockout” is set to begin in January 2010.
