Sandy Meyer

Sandy Meyer works predominately in transparent watercolor with an emphasis on color and how light transforms that color to dramatize even the simplest subject. Her works are in collections across the country, including museums, art centers, and corporations. She has earned signature memberships in Watercolor U.S.A., Honor Society, and the Transparent Watercolor Society of America.  Sandy is a native of Quincy, Illinois, and is now living in Coopersville, Michigan.  She is a docent for the Grand Rapids Art Museum and served as director of Gallery Uptown from 2008 to 2010.  Sandy has works in Granite Bank Gallery in Quincy, Illinois and in Gallery Uptown, Grand Haven, Michigan.  Sandy was one of 50 Illinois women artists who participated in the exhibit “Illinois Women Artists: New Millennium”, which started a year of touring at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C., before traveling to several venues throughout Illinois in 2000-2001. Her works have been publishedin Watercolor Magazine, Summer 2011, American Artist Magazine, The Artists Magazine and Watercolor Magic. Sandy teaches watercolor and color workshops throughout the Midwest.

Sandy recently received a $1500 cash award for “Light Load” (pictured above) from the 53rd national, competitive exhibition of aqueous media painting, Watercolor USA 2014 at the Springfield Art Museum.

The annual exhibition attracts entries from across the United States. The competition this year received 549 entries by 304 artists from 42 states.
