The sword-wielding man slashed one person inside the Weber Space Science and Technology Building at the northwest Atlanta campus, according to police. The attacker, Kshitij Shrotri, also injured a Georgia Tech campus police officer trying to subdue the man. Officers were able to arrest the suspect. Police believe the attacker is a former Ph. D. candidate at Georgia Tech. Shrotri is being held in the Fulton County Jail on an aggravated assault charge The victim slashed with the sword is working on a postdoctoral fellowship at Georgia Tech, according to police. School officials said the victim’s name will be released after relatives are notified. Paramedics took both victims to Grady Memorial Hospital. Kshitij Shrotri, who received his Ph.D. in aerospace engineering in 2008, is being held in the Fulton County Jail on an aggravated assault charge, police said. From A Breaking News: The man who attacked a student at Georgia Tech University yesterday has been named as Kshitij Shrotri, and in a twist to an already unbelievable story it seems that the man was not only a student, but also a colleague of the victim. Kshitij Shrotri is now being held at Fulton County Jail, and it is believed that he will face stuff charges when he is processed later today. The Georgia Tech graduate, who has a qualification in aerospace engineering, shocked the campus yesterday after attacking an as-yet unnamedman, who is being treated in hospital. Georgia Tech campus From The attacker hails from Mumbai, India, and college officials said that after he graduated he has not been affiliated with the university. Information about the swordsman defined himself as a lover of hiking, as well as martial arts. This chilling self-examination was written in his PhD foreword in 2008. Police say the attack happened when Kshitij Shrotri stabbed the post doctoral fellow around 1.20pm on Thursday, and by 8.30pm the man was in surgery. The building where Kshitij Shrotri used to work is now closed, and the police are still collecting evidence. With-held says: The attacker was never a colleague of the victim. The attacker was a known trouble maker around the aerospace department. He was very quick to pick a fight with anyone. He has threatened others in the past. He fought with several professors at Tech. He was once kicked out of Purdue university for these reasons.
