The Kettlebell

Kettlebell for MMA Combatants

Introduction:

The first part of the Kettlebell for MMA Combatants series is only part of an important whole. The whole of it takes into consideration everything that is needed for the MMA competitor to be completely and thoroughly prepared for battle without spinning wheels doing exercises that contribute little toward increased performance in the ring or octagon.  The truth is that training that does not represent the needs and demands of the sport in question can produce insufficient training effect, or worse, make you weaker and contribute to overtraining and injury.

In this part, part 1, of the series, the major topic is human power production.  It answers the question how one trains himself to produce immense power on demand. In the octagon, power on demand–the type of power that instantly lets your opponents know that they are outmatched–is a fundamental raw strength to possess. At Warrior Combat Strength, we call this type of power “the Throttle”. It represents the ability to rev your human motor to 12,000 rpm in a fraction of a second while your competition has not even begun to tap into this potential. The mode of training used to accomplish this is called P.I.T.’s (Power Interval Training) ™ ©.The ability to generate this type of power alone grants its possessor a considerable edge over the competition.
