However I need you to know my background and who I am today before you commit your time to Bellator Fitness. Roughly about four years ago I was overweight and not looking after myself, I needed a gym badly but I didn’t like the idea of it as I knew I’d beintimidated, bored and frustrated. Instead of joining a standard gym with their standard equipment I started at a Martial Arts gym in Wollongong… Best decision ever. I was very ordinary when I first started, but just after a few sessions I was loving it… After just a few months I had my first Semi-contact Kickboxing fight, I won and ever since then I have had a passion for competing and to this day I have had over 20 Semi -Contact and Amateur fights in Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)… I Love It. So Why Did I Decide A Career In Fitness? I was working in retail for 17 years until the day before my son was born, that day I was made redundant. With my son being born and my wife having major complications, life was really put in perspective for me. After such a tough time I decided I would not go back to work and be away from family if it wasn’t for a job I love. I became a ‘House Husband’ and I’m still currently that at the moment. During this time I was giventhe opportunity to teach Jiu-Jitsu at my local martial arts center which I loved doing, it made me remember the times I taught and mentored staff in retail and at this point I realised exactly what I wanted to do. Teach Train and Mentor people to help them reach their fitness goals and that is why I started studies in the fitness industry.
